Our Sports Council have already been busy making signs for the playground, interviewing people who have competed in competitions, organised a rota for the playground equipment trolley and have started up a twice weekly playtime sports club for Year One.

We would love more photo’s of your children’s sporting achievements outside school for the achievers board. Please ensure children have named, jogging bottoms and spare socks for PE.

Rapid Fire Cricket Year 1 and 2

24th Jan saw a great performance by some of our Herons class when they attended a Rapid Fire Cricket Tournament at the Stour Centre. They all played with great enthusiasm and came a respectable 8th place. Well Done Herons!

Inter House Dodgeball

Otters came out victorious from our first Inter House tournament of the year. Sports Council had taken a vote from all the children as to which sport they would all compete in to gain 50 Team points and everyone tried their very best for their team! Great job everyone and Well done to the Sports Council for running the event so professionally.

Rapid Fire Cricket Year 3 and 4

5th place out of 16 teams was a brilliant result for our Martins team. They won 2 out of 3 of their first round matches and then after two sudden deaths won all of their play-off matches to come 5th overall. Fantastic!

Kent College Cross Country

Another fantastic turn out to the Cross Country on Saturday 2nd March saw 25 Chilham pupils represent our school! That is more than a quarter of the school!

It was lovely to see so many new comers so a particular well done if it was your first time!

Some notable results were 1st placed girl in her race for Martha and 2nd placed times for Zoe and Nate in their races.

Mini Tennis Tournament

5th March saw the Year 3 and 4 Mini Tennis Tournament and Mrs Talbot who attend this event was extremely proud of how hard the children tried and how well they supported and cheered each other on! Great job.

Daily Mile Winners!

To encourage our children to become even more active there will now be a termly award for the class that completes the most Daily Miles!

Let’s see which class wins for this term by getting out and completing the most Daily Miles!

Sports Council Weekly Award

Our amazing Sports Council have decided to give out a weekly certificate for children attending the Year One Sports Club which takes place every Thursday and Friday playtime. The certificates are given out in Fridays Celebration Assembly and are awarded for skill, sportsmanship, kindness to others and listening skills.

You should be very proud if your child brings home a small green certificate on a Friday!

Football News

We have recently joined the Ashford Primary Schools Football League and after a trial session on Friday we have formed our squad. The boys will need to attend all training sessions offered and will get the chance to play in some matches as well as the Football Tournament on Saturday 23rd March (More information to follow)

Thursday Morning Running Club 

The club is running again this term 8-8:30am (parents must stay or arrange for their child to be taken to school by another parent).

Playtime Sports Club

We are hoping to extend our Sports Council run playtime Sports Club to 2 days a week so that Wrens can also benefit from a more active playtime.
